Biography
Irene Ruddock's love of beauty, color, and light enable her to express herself through oil, pastel, acrylic or watercolor paintings. 'Her means of creative expression evoke feelings of peaceful tranquility. Irene says of her work, "I try to capture an essence of light, happiness, and serenity in my paintings. The name Irene means peace, so I attempt to impart my love for the beauty of nature in a peaceful and serene way."

Ms. Ruddock paints what she loves. Long Island scenes are a favorite such as the ocean in the Hamptons or the vineyards of the North Fork. While living in 'Manhattan, she painted many scenes of Central Park and city cafes. (Paintings of the southwest are in her collection since she is a frequent visitor of Santa Fe).Commissions: Since Ms. Ruddock delights in capturing a special meaning for the viewer, she is often commissioned to paint a favorite scene. One commission was a painting of Frank Melville Memorial Park, which was received as a gift for sponsors of the park. Another commission of the 0ld Field Club in 1929 was used as an invitation to their Governor's Ball. Ms. (Ruddock's work can be found in John Mather Memorial Hospital as well as many other private collections. She is now accepting commissions.Selected awards: Ms. Ruddock has won many awards. While a member of the prestigious Salamagundi Club, she won the John Mills Transparent Watercolor Award for her painting of the Taos Pueblo.
